Find El Paso County Traffic Records

An El Paso County traffic ticket starts with the court printed on the citation, and that is where the search begins. City police often file ordinance tickets in municipal court. A state patrol or sheriff citation may land in the state County Court instead. Before you pick a payment or lookup channel, read the issuing agency and the appearance address on the ticket. The El Paso County traffic court records themselves can show the citation, the hearing settings, and how the plea came out. Procedures differ between city courts and state courts, so confirm your court date and your response options with the court that actually holds the case.

Traffic Court Records in El Paso County

El Paso County traffic court records live in six places. One is the El Paso County Combined Court. Five municipal courts hold the rest. County Court at 270 S. Tejon handles state traffic citations. Colorado Springs, Fountain, Monument, Manitou Springs, and Palmer Lake each keep their own city ordinance matters. Where the traffic stop happened does not control venue. The citation face does.

Check the ticket for telltale signs in Colorado Springs. A blue horizontal bar points one way. So do the letters CSPD. An appearance address of 224 E. Kiowa also means Municipal Court. A green bar, a state trooper or deputy, or 270 S. Tejon means Combined Court. That quick test avoids a common mistake. It stops you from hunting a state case through a city payment portal. It also stops you from scanning the state hearing calendar for a municipal citation on the wrong court docket.

El Paso County Summons Test

Trust the issuing agency and the appearance address over the location of the stop. Charter and ordinance traffic records sit with Colorado Springs Municipal Court. State-traffic records sit with the combined-court clerk. Fountain and Monument police can also write citations into state court. The badge city alone never settles it. Who holds the El Paso County court docket depends on the issuing agency.

How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket

No single El Paso County traffic-ticket portal covers every custodian. State tickets run through the Judicial Branch hearing calendar and combined-court channels. Colorado Springs handles eligible payment through nCourt. That channel is not a full Register of Actions. Fountain offers the county's most detailed municipal violation search. Monument provides payment only. Manitou Springs posts monthly calendar PDFs, and Palmer Lake is clerk-first.

  1. Read the citation number, issuing agency, colored bar, and appearance address.
  2. Use the state calendar for Combined Court, or the named municipal channel for a city case.
  3. Search by the verified local fields, such as citation and date of birth in Fountain.
  4. Call or visit the proper counter when a new ticket has not posted or no public search exists.
  5. Confirm the date, response deadline, payment eligibility, and case status with that court.

State citation payment questions go to Room S120 or 719-452-5093. Colorado Springs municipal questions go to 719-385-5928 or Room 108, and each smaller municipality runs its own clerk line.

El Paso County Fountain Traffic Search

Fountain's official-linked Tyler portal offers six different search routes. Options include citation plus date of birth; driver license, issuing state, and date of birth; SSN and date of birth; plate and state plus a vehicle field; first and last name plus date of birth; or business name. These are alternatives, not required fields. Pick the least sensitive route you can.

Search mode Fields Use note
Citation Citation number and DOB Direct public criteria entry
Driver License, state, DOB State dropdown includes Colorado and other jurisdictions
Name First name, last name, DOB Useful without the citation number
Vehicle Plate, state, vehicle input Exact final label was not exposed
Business Business name For a violation tied to a business

The search can locate a municipal violation for possible payment. It does not promise filed images, a complete Register of Actions, or a downloadable case docket.

Finding Your Traffic Court Date

For an El Paso County traffic court date, the printed citation comes first. A state case may also show up in the free calendar under class T. The listing gives date, time, duration, name, number, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. Municipal results vary by city. Manitou's monthly PDF uses YYC##### case numbers with grouped times. Colorado Springs works differently. It may list a seven-digit summons without dashes. An eight-digit case number is the other format on its court docket.

Citation or case number The identifier used by the issuing court’s channel.
Issuing court Combined Court or the named municipal court.
Date and time The appearance, arraignment, or other setting shown by the court.
Location or courtroom The court address and division or room when published.
Appearance mode In person, telephone, or virtual only when the court authorizes it.

Watching a livestream never counts as appearing. If two dates conflict after a reset, check the latest court docket entry or notice and call the assigned clerk or division.

El Paso County Manitou Traffic Dockets

Manitou Springs offers the clearest free municipal calendar channel in El Paso County. Its monthly docket archive needs no login. Date-labeled PDFs group arraignment and further-proceedings dockets. Each entry can show a public name, case number, appearance type, and staggered reporting time.

Remember, the PDF is only a calendar, not a Register of Actions. It carries no charge, judge, or counsel. There are no chronological filings, outcome lines, money totals, or document links. A "NO COURT SCHEDULED" line is just a calendar notice. Questions about case history belong with the municipal clerk at 719-685-2544.

Paying or Contesting a Ticket

On a payable Colorado Springs municipal citation, paying means pleading guilty. Contesting requires an appearance. Payment works only when an amount is printed. It must also arrive before the court date. The official municipal payment instructions lay out the online, phone, mail, drop-box, and counter channels.

The payment page resolves eligible tickets but is not a complete docket browser.

Paying Contesting
Accepts the listed municipal disposition as a guilty plea Requires the response or appearance directed by the issuing court
Use online, phone, mail, drop box, or Room 108 when eligible Do not pay before asking for the contested setting
Must have an amount printed and arrive before date A blank amount means appearance is required

Missed response: A missed date or late payment can add costs and may lead to a warrant or other court enforcement. Contact the issuing court at once.

El Paso Traffic Surcharges

Never merge Colorado Springs fees with another El Paso County court. For 2026, city convictions generally carry a $35 pedestrian-safety fee except parking and photo matters. There is also a $20 police-technology surcharge effective January 11. It carries the same exceptions. A $5 IT surcharge applies too, except parking. The city also lists a $40 warrant cost and $35 minimum court costs. School-zone and construction-zone fines double.

The city's announcement of the 2026 technology surcharge explains the new charge. Read it in the city's own words.

These dollar figures describe the Colorado Springs municipal channel alone. Fountain, Monument, Manitou Springs, Palmer Lake, and Combined Court each publish their own fee rules.

Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record

Two separate files exist, and two separate offices keep them. The El Paso County traffic court record stays with the clerk. It may also sit with the municipal court that heard the citation. The file can include the citation itself. Hearing settings, the plea, the final outcome, and any court fees owed may appear as well. The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles keeps a different document: the state driving record. Here the focus stays on the court file. The DMV record comes up only so you can tell the two apart.

Court traffic record State driving record
Custodian Issuing municipal clerk or El Paso County Combined Court clerk Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles
Core content Citation, plea, settings, disposition, court charges State-maintained driving history
Request path Court lookup or clerk record request Separate DMV record channel

The two files answer different questions. When you need to know what happened in the citation case itself, request the court record straight from the court that keeps it.

El Paso Municipal Appeal Routes

Whether a municipal appeal stays local depends on one thing. Is the court a qualified court of record? Colorado Springs and Fountain both hold that status. An appeal from either one ordinarily goes to District Court within thirty-five days. A non-record municipal court works differently. Its appeal goes to County Court within fourteen days for a fresh trial. Monument, Manitou Springs, and Palmer Lake have no confirmed record status in their official materials. Treat those three as open questions. The official Colorado Springs appeal information sets out that city's route in full.

For those three courts, the clerk is the answer. Ask which status and deadline apply rather than guessing from a written calendar or the presence of a judge.

Fees and Copies

State-court traffic copies follow the combined-court record fee schedule. A plain single-sided page costs $0.25. Double-sided runs $0.50 per page, and a certified or exemplified copy is $20 per document. A name search costs $5. You can request state citation records through Room S101, the statewide form, email, or mail; for municipal copies, the city clerk sets its own terms.

State court record item Fee Note
Single-sided copy $0.25 per page Plain state-court copy
Double-sided copy $0.50 Combined-court schedule
Certified or exemplified copy $20 per document Clerk authentication
Name search $5 State combined-court request

Keep court-copy fees and city money separate. A fine, surcharge, OJW charge, warrant amount, or returned-check charge belongs to a different municipal obligation, not to the copy counter.

El Paso Traffic Court Checklist

A careful El Paso County traffic-record search hangs onto the local differences. Colorado Springs takes payment through several channels. Fountain has a detailed Tyler search but no phone payment. Monument runs a payment service rather than a docket, and Manitou posts calendar PDFs. Palmer Lake leans on its clerk and town calendar. There, weather closure pushes a session to the next month.

  • Follow the issuing agency and printed appearance address.
  • Use payment tools only for citations the court marks as payable.
  • Confirm the newest setting with the court before appearing.
  • Ask the clerk for the ROA or filed order when a calendar is not enough.
  • Keep each city’s costs and response rules separate.

When a citation lands in Combined Court, the county-wide El Paso County case search covers the state calendar and the official-record fallback.

El Paso County Traffic Court Fallbacks

When a citation search fails, stop there. Do not jump to another city's payment site. Instead, call the court printed on the summons. Colorado Springs clerks may need the police summons first. They cannot handle a continuance until it arrives. Fountain backs up its Tyler system with email, phone, and counter help. Monument and Palmer Lake both come down to direct clerk access. Manitou's PDF answers only calendar questions, while Combined Court supplies the ROA and filings for state cases.
